(Churros Factory had since ceased operations.)
With the Churro craze still going strong, it is quite nice seeing litte Churro stalls pop up all across the island, from permanent takeaway setups to cafes set up purely serving just Churros and even pasar malam stalls that serve these dough fritters drizzled in multiple types of sauces.
Churros Factory is one such stall that had appeared at I12 Katong for a while. Despite looking as if they are a permanent setup, Churros Factory is a temporary pop-up stall concept by the same folks who run Medici Cafe Bar at 44 Rochester Park (it shares the same space as Coffee:Nowhere at Rochester Park) that only sells Churros. Before setting up this pop-up stall, Churros Factory used to cater to special occasions such as parties or events, and also supplies to other cafes such as Bell’s Cottage Cafe.
(3-Piece Churros)
Having had coffee elsewhere before heading down, we decided to just go for the 3-Piece Churros which comes with a default Chocolate drizzle. The Churros were fried to crisp, though we wished the insides could be fluffier and the exterior could be coated with more cinnamon sugar. It also tasted a bit oily though it was not too bothersome. Chocolate drizzle was sweet without being overwhelming, though perhaps removing the drizzle and replacing it as a dip (which is also offered as an add-on) could be a great idea to accommodate to those who prefer eating Churros as-is with the cinnamon sugar.
Despite being a pop-up stall, Churros Factory is not a wannabe in the business; it does their craft well though there might be room for improvements, but generally their effort can be felt and its pretty worth the price. Do make a a trip down before the pop-up ends, especially if you are on who is into Churros and looking for one that can satisfy your cravings.
