Kyū Coffee Bar – Prudential Tower

Kyū Coffee Bar replaces One Shot Coffee, which has recently moved out of its premises at Prudential Tower.

Taking over the spot vacated by One Shot Coffee, Kyū Coffee Bar is a simple kiosk which serves the office crowd in the Central Business District. Serving primarily coffee, the coffee served here are blends roasted by Knockhouse Supply Co. for espresso-based coffees and Nylon Coffee Roasters for the filter coffee. Hot food for takeaway is also available here — there is a choice of two sandwiches and also pastries from PAUL for light bites to go along with the coffee. Kyū Coffee Bar also serves a variety of tea from The 1872 Clipper Tea Co.

(Mini Ham & Cheese Croissant)

The Mini Ham & Cheese Croissant would fit peckish appetites — a bite-sized croissant sliced into half with melted cheese and a slice of ham. The croissant was flaky and buttery and overall the flavours were pretty savoury and comforting as a light bite suitable for breakfast.

The Canelé was on the other hand, rather disappointing. While it was not too sweet, the texture was seemingly cake-like and lacked the sugary crust on the exterior — felt pretty much of a miss.

(White – 8 Oz)

As mentioned, the coffee here is brewed from blends by Nylon Coffee Roasters and Knockhouse Supply Co.; we ordered the 8 Oz White which comes with the latter that is of a lighter roast as compared to the former. The cuppa was overall pretty light and soothing — smooth with roasty and nutty flavour profile.

With Kyū Coffee Bar being a place that has a focus on coffee, it is definitely a very convenient spot for office crowds to do their takeaways in the morning or even after lunch while making their way to the office. The food does have some hits and misses (especially for the Canelé) but the focus on coffee does make up for those misses especially since the food is supplied. A spot for quality take away coffee in the Central Business District.
