There’s probably too many establishments in Singapore that had chosen to name themselves Milk & Honey lately that we are now confused on who is affiliated with which one.
Forget all about the Milk & Honey that serves Froyo at OneKM and City Square Mall; this Milk & Honey is the second outlet of Milk & Honey Gelato at Bedok located near the Bedok 85 Market & Food Centre. Having expanded into a second outlet and now also located in the west of Singapore, this new outlet of Milk & Honey boasts a new logo redesign and a seating area that is considered a significant upgrade from its cramped and tiny outlet in Bedok. With these changes, Milk & Honey is no longer a place just for ice-cream; the Bukit Batok outlet also serves sandwiches, cakes, tarts and even plated desserts.
I tried their Salty Malty during my previous visit, which I remembered was a flavour I was not really fond of. This time round we chose the White Mac, which was White Chocolate gelato with toasted Macademia nuts. While the White Chocolate flavour was not really evident here, the toasty Macademia nuts made up for it as it was filled with nutty goodness.
(Passionfruit Meringue Tart)
We also tried their Passionfruit Meringue Tart. The Meringue felt pretty aired out, as though the torch was at a high temperature when the meringue was torched. However, that resulted in the meringue becoming crisps bits of sugar which was pretty addictive. Passionfruit curd was well-balanced; lightly sweet but tart enough to tickle the tastebuds. Crust was slight crumbly but it was easy to cut; overall rather decent.
(Sticky Date Pudding)
Amongst the plated dessert, the Sticky Date Pudding stood out to us the most whIch was why we decided to go for it. Served warm, its sticky fluffiness went well to create contrasting feels of hot-and-cold when had alongside with the accompanying vanilla ice-cream. Soothing for a cold weather treat.
Milk & Honey also serves coffee at their new outlet in Bukit Batok. They use blends from Toby Estate here, but our Flat White was quite liquid. It had a light fruity body but also had a nutty finish, though was pretty average overall.
Its interesting to see Milk & Honey come so far from its roots as a small-scale setup from its Bedok outlet to what it is now at Bukit Batok, expanding out of its gelato menu. Residents in the west would be glad that to have yet another choice when it comes to cafes within their vicinity.
