(2 Loaves had since ceased operations.)
Tanglin Halt has been known for its cheap and good hawker food, but 2 Loaves was an interesting addition to this old-school neighbourhood that seems to be forgotten for quite some time.
While they serve up brownies, cookies, cheesecakes and cinnamon rolls for takeaways, their signature items are the cake loaves. Originally the shop was a fully takeaway shop, but seats have since been added though they would still pack the cakes in boxes upon collection.
I was too full for anything more, so I got a slice of Matcha Cheese Cake to try. The base was made of crushed Oreo, which added an interesting coca flavour to the cake which was lightly aromatic of matcha. While the matcha flavour was light, it was evident and blended well with the cheesecake, though slightly crumbly.
I might not have tried their signature items, but its interesting to see a modern bakery appearing in a traditional neighbourhood like this. The bakes seem to be rather popular and quality; hopefully they do dine-in soon with proper cutlery, that way it would be more convenient for people who are looking for an after-meal dessert from the food centre right beside it.
