(Threefold Cafe had since ceased operations.)
I have no idea when Threefold Cafe started operations in Singapore Expo, but I had recently seen one or two photos of it being geo-tagged on Instagram so I decided to drop by to check them out.
It was not too hard to locate, especially if you have some knowledge of where the Burger King outlet at Singapore Expo is; it’s just right beside it. Threefold’s menu is small; a few toasts, some cakes, wraps and coffee are what’s available. Tea lovers will be glad to know that they serve tea from Gryphon Tea Company.
Apart from the few cakes available, there is also a Smores Pie available. A layer of melted marshmallows cover the chocolate ganache that goes over the pie base. The sticky marshmallow gives a subtle sweetness on top of the sweet chocolate layer in between, while the base was buttery. A dessert for the sweet-tooth, the only problem with it was that it would have been way better served cold; this one was the only piece that was placed in the cake display placed on top of the display chiller.
Latte was fine; they use Highlander blends here but this cup lacked body as it was missing of Highlander’s signature acidity, just milky.
Threefold Cafe is not exactly the type of cafe I would come specially to Expo for, but I guess it makes quite a chill spot if you are around for a fair or two; the small al-fresco seating area was full-house when I visited with the Singapore Food Fair going on.
