Craftsmen Specialty Coffee – Siglap V

Siglap has not really seen much cafes opening ever since the Third Wave Coffee Movement came, so it was rather pleasant to see one that had just recently opened with the construction of Siglap V complete.

Definitely not missing any hipster vibe, the industrial theme was strong with bare bulbs and plumbing as decorations with sturdy looking furniture.

(Flat White)

It was their soft opening phase, so coffee is on tip basis (yes, you pay them what you think their coffee is worth) and there is no food available. They use blends by Dutch Colony Coffee which they are affiliated with, which had a slight acidity with a chocolate ending for a sweet finish. The Flat White was also creamy and milky, with quite decent latte art too. Pity the body was a little weak though.

Given the location of Craftsmen Specialty Coffee, I guess I would not be back regularly given its two hours off from where I stay. However, this is a great spot for Siglap residents to grab their daily cuppa or to spend some time at. The coffee’s been great, and with cooked food such as sandwiches and quiches in the pipeline, I am looking forward to what Craftsmen Specialty Coffee would become in the future.

  1. you’re really fast! and you’re everywhere! Craftsmen, curbside, 3 hands coffee, etc. I want to go to a new cafe with good brunch food. Do you have any recommendations? Most of these new cafes are really just coffee and food catered from elsewhere. I can’t seem to find a decent cafe. Any suggestions?

Got to say the recent openings are more towards cakes and coffees, and some are not even serving cooked food because its during the soft opening phase (a trend with recent cafes that I am not very fond of). One Man Coffee should be the more promising of the lot amongst the newly opened though not all the items seem impressive. Heard their Toad-in-the-hole egg and the French Toast I had was rather good.

      1. Aiya i don’t want carbs Leh. Thanks!

Haha. If not try Rouse. Was there this afternoon and its really not too bad. They have crab cakes, baked mushrooms etc. A bit pricey but totally worth the money when it comes to taste.

      3. Never even heard of Rouse. You’re so informed! Man I need to up my game. Thanks! I’ll try it.
